I’m Rick — and I am from the Netherlands. I am so Dutch I grew up walking on clogs (no joke). I’m also Bapple’s (the apple-character) proud father!
Bapple was born after my Dutch apple pie won the Hi-Fi Pie Baking Contest 2024 in Westville, New Haven — praised as “the perfect breakfast pie” for its buttery, subtly spiced crust. Made from scratch with local apples and a cozy Dutch spice mix, it has won many hearts.
What started as baking for friends turned into a mission: to make Connecticut fall in love with Dutch pies and cookies. There is a reason Dutch people eat apple pie in all seasons, on all occasions. It is simply that good!
Besides having fun baking, I also enjoy shaping the Bapple Universe. With every product I offer, a new character — a baker — is introduced. This way, Bapple gets an increasingly larger kitchen staff with their own specialty. Check out my Instagram page to meet all the characters!
